Earlier this year, Capel C.S Ltd completed their contracted works with TOC and client Greater Anglia for their Multi-Station Refurbishment Scheme for the stations of Audley End, Cheshunt, Hockley and lastly, Shenfield, which will also connect the Elizabeth line.
After acquiring the contract just a couple months before its completion date, the construction contractors were responsible for all enhancement works of the toilet facilities at the stations. These included pre-construction surveys, enabling works, all mechanical and electrical works as well as the complete internal refurbishment of the toilet facilities.
A Modern Touch
Capel were contracted to entirely refurbish the male, female and accessible toilets at all mentioned stations above. The mutual goal of the project was to provide newly revamped facilities for all passengers at all stations, starting with a complete strip-out of all walls, floors, ceiling finishes, fittings & fixtures and more. The refurbishment works then included the provision of brand new suspended ceiling systems and new fittings & fixtures, the installation of new floor and wall tiles as well as new vanity units and duct panels, and finally the decoration all walls, ceilings and woodwork across all toilets.
“We are honoured to work with GA again and be a part of their station network, providing great quality facilities for commuters and travellers to use at the stations. By providing everyone with
comfortable and modernised facilities, we can encourage the use of public transport and being more environmentally-friendly.” says Jon Shepherd, Contracts Manager at Capel C.S Ltd.
New mechanical and electrical works also included the touches of LED Lighting and Emergency lighting, extract ventilation and heating (including water heaters) as well as brand-new electrical facilities such as hand dryers.
“We are so pleased with the outcome of the refurb works at the Multi-Station Refurbishment Scheme. Capel has been a great contractor delivering all works on-time, on-budget as well as meeting all our project requirements.” says Danny Stevens, Project Manager at Greater Anglia
Remaining Accessible with minor
disruptions
In order to meet the requirements by the client and allow some of the facilities to remain operational during the works, Capel ensured at least a toilet facility would be available at each station for passengers to use. The contractors scheduled all works to be segregated with a programme in alignment, ensuring all works of the other toilets were to be delivered on-time, whilst allowing a toilet facility to be accessed at any times by travelling passengers. All works at all stations were delivered within the client’s specific time-frame.
Thank you to our clients and friends at Greater Anglia for trusting us with another refurbishment project on their network.
