Project: Crossrail West Anglia Outer Stations
Value : £2 million
Duration : 18 months
Scope of Works
Refurbishment Works at 4 main line stations in Essex as part of the Crossrail upgrade works. Works comprised strip out of existing buildings including Ticket Offices, Concourse areas and staff facilities. Structural alterations including new steelwork installation, new blockwork walls, new floors and ceilings, fit-out of toilet and washroom facilities, new wall and floor tiled finishes. At two stations we also constructed new plant rooms comprising reinforced concrete roof and floor slabs and loading-bearing walls.
Procuring, planning and implementing
Capel CS Ltd were responsible for procuring, planning and implementing all aspects of our work scope which had to be undertaken in conjunction with the other major contractors at each location such as the Mechanical & Electrical Contractor and the Gateline Contractor. This involved a high level of co-ordination from the Capel project team to ensure the works were completed on time and to the required standard.
Completed to Crossrail, Network Rail and the Train operating companies requirements
The project in general was challenging with regard to design change but we worked closely with the Principle contractor to not only advise on alternatives but to assist with further structural design. One example of this was with the structural design required at one location to allow the removal of a central wall, which originally separated the ticket hall. This in turn allowed the opening up the new ticket hall area into a more usable space and to accommodate an increase in public flow.
All works were completed to Crossrail, Network Rail and the Train operating companies requirements and were completed on time and on budget.
